The Brevard Federated Republican Women [BFRW] have established the Barbara Davis Memorial Leadership Scholarship, in the amount of $1,000, for high school seniors and college freshmen.  Either female or male students, who are U. S. Citizens, are eligible to apply. The Scholarship is in honor and memory of Barbara Davis, treasurer and past president of the BFRW, who went to be with the Lord in November 2018.

Barbara and husband, Richard, moved to Brevard County, from the Buffalo New York area, in 1999, having become acquainted with the area while spending summers, on their boat, in Indian Harbour Beach. While in New York, Barbara became Vice President of a road and bridge Contracting Corporation.

After Richard passed away in the early 2000’s, Barbara became involved in local activities.  She was an avid tennis player and achieved captain of women’s tennis teams, scheduling games on courts throughout Brevard.

Barbara became acquainted with the BFRW organization after attending a forum for Republican candidates, for the U. S. Senate, which the BFRW sponsored.

After joining the BFRW, her interest and enthusiasm for Republican politics enhanced, and she became involved in Club activities.  Because of her accounting skills, she was elected Treasurer and then Club President.  When her term as President ended, she was elected as Chairperson of the Brevard County Executive Committee [BREC], and was active as Vice Chairman of the Chairman’s Caucus of the Republican Party of Florida.  She was re-elected as BFRW Club treasurer while serving as BREC Chairperson until 2016.

Barbara was an enthusiastic Republican woman, a staunch supporter of the BFRW efforts to honor the Veterans and Military, and a strong proponent of its scholarships for students.
